4 programs
56 minutes each

Mexican art from its dawning to the twentieth century. The first two programs look at several pre-Columbian cultures in different areas of Mesoamerica, showing how views of the universe were expressed in the art and architecture. The third describes events after the Spanish conquest and the evangelization, asking how far the indigenous and western traditions became integrated. The last shows how the country reacted to the artistic movements of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and how the War of Independence and the revolution infused so much of Mexican art with an enduring nationalism.

Repeated titles occur in the list opposite where the program entry appears in different sections (indicated by the colored prefix number) of the Resource Guide and consequently may have different descriptions and illustrations.
